Rodney King Found Dead in His Swimming Pool at Age 47
Rodney King was found dead in his swimming pool by his fiancee on Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead at 6:11 a.m. at the Arrowhead Hospital in Colton.
Rodney was only 47 years old.
Rodney King is famous for the plea on tv "Can we all get along?" When he was beaten by 4 Los Angeles Police Department officers on a dark street on March 3, 1991. The four officers hit him more than 50 times, kicked and shot him with their stun guns.
A year later, three of the four officers were acquitted of the charges. This started riots on April 29, 1992. These riots was the most lethal in U.S. history. By the time this was over, more than 50 people were dead, almost 3,000 were injured and numerous businesses were damaged or destroyed.
Rodney received a $3.8 million settlement from the city for the beating he had receive from the officers.
